lightly chiseled, cannon type, octagonal to round, .50 caliber, rifled, pin-fastened, iron, 6 ½’ barrel with a baluster turned barrel-transition. in original flintlock configuration with a scroll engraved, unsigned, flat lockplate; its original matching gooseneck hammer and frizzen; and fine mechanics: adorned with chiseled scrolls and made with a bridle-less powder-pan. molded and carved walnut fullstock of classic germanic design with a cane-type grip and rococo-type raised carving, at the barrel tang and raised teardrops, around the lock and mounts. lightly engraved and embossed brass furniture: the rifle type sideplate with a line-engraved border and a central scroll, two baluster-turned brass ramrod pipes, a teardrop-shaped butt-cap finial with a rear spur; and the trigger-guard with an embossed trefoil finial and a simply etched bow. in great condition. the barrel with sharp contours, fine turnings, some scattered light pitting and evidence of light cleaning. matching lock with 90% polish and sharp engraving. fine stock with sharp carving, 90% finish and a repair/hairline at the base of the butt. overall length 11 1/2\\. original horn-tip wooden ramrod. a fine quality and attractive example of a rifled barrel german, french or possibly swiss flintlock pistol, ca. 1770.
the pistol case is custom made from exotic brown curly maple wood. inside, there is a black inlay that could also be change to red depend on the person’s taste. the case is truly made professionally with a glass window, not plastic and it comes with a lock & two keys. you really need to see this case in person to see how magnificent it is! condition: in great condition for the age.
